Artist Bio:
“A world-class ensemble. Yes, world-class!” proclaimed the Los Angeles Times. “A rousing performance...the players poured their hearts into the music!” declared the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “The trio played with conviction and ravishing beauty,” raved the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Critical reviews such as these have become commonplace for The Amadeus Trio, one of the most dynamic chamber music groups performing today. Celebrating thirteen seasons of rave review performances to overwhelmingly enthusiastic audiences, the trio is generally acknowledged as occupying a position among the foremost piano trios in the world. Recognized for their brilliant virtuosity and superb musicianship, the three artists, pianist Marian Hahn, violinist Timothy Baker, and cellist Jeffrey Solow also enjoy award-winning solo careers.

The Amadeus Trio has appeared with regularity in major cultural centers including New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, San Francisco, St. Louis, Washington, DC, Miami, Philadelphia, and Salt Lake City during the past decade. In addition to their formal concert season, the Trio is an established guest at summer chamber festivals throughout the United States. During the summer of 2003 The Amadeus Trio will give the world premiere of a piece written for them in collaboration with the Grammy Award-winning American Indian flute virtuoso Carlos Nakai in celebration of the Sedona Chamber Music Festival’s 20th anniversary.

During the spring of 1992, The Amadeus Trio gave its Lincoln Center debut in Alice Tully Hall, a performance that elicited spontaneous applause and shouts from its audience between movements, treatment very rarely accorded any debut in New York. As a result of that acclaimed performance, The Amadeus Trio was immediately invited to perform at some of this country’s major musical venues including, among others, San Francisco’s Herbst Theatre, Los Angeles’ Ambassador Auditorium and New York’s Carnegie Hall. Following celebrated debuts on Lincoln Center’s Great Performers Series, the Kennedy Center’s Kreeger Series and others in Vancouver, St. Louis, Cleveland, Birmingham, Salt Lake City and Miami in subsequent seasons, The Amadeus Trio made its Toronto debut in 2002 and was hailed as “a powerhouse American chamber group!” by the Toronto Star.

Numerous performances of The Amadeus Trio have been broadcast over National Public Radio’s Performance Today program. In addition to these recorded concerts, the Trio has performed live on well-known classical music stations WQXR in New York, WGMS in Washington, DC and WGBH in Boston.

The Amadeus Trio recently recorded a CD of works by Dvorak and Smetana for Helicon Records/Kleos Classics. Additional recording projects are scheduled for the summer of 2003.
