Artist Bio:
Camerata Sweden is Sweden’s leading chamber orchestra, renowned for its characteristic interpretation of enchanting beauty and musical balance with a distinctive profile in performing as a camerata without a conductor and standing on the stage. Its artistic unity is created collectively on the basis of mutual sensitivity and deeply felt musical intentions.

The musicians are competitively selected from the best Scandinavian players. Camerata Sweden has collaborated with James Galway, Barbara Bonney, Barbara Hendricks and Barry Tuckwell among a number of distinguished artists. They have been chosen to represent Sweden abroad in the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, the Baltic States, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico Since 1993, they have been featured regularly on Swedish television and radio and released CD recordings focusing on Scandinavian composers. They have already recorded extensively and received high critical acclaim from the American Record Guide: "Their playing is a delight -- crisp- bright and expressive!" The critics raved and the South American audiences cheered for Camerata Sweden, who performed five concerts, including appearances at the most prestigious Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires in October 2001. “Camerata Sweden showed its intelligence and clarity. The ensemble has an exquisite chamber music sound,” AL Naciaon, Buenos Aires. Camerata Sweden received an immediate return engagement. The Sao Paolo Guia Sao Joao wrote: “one of the best music ensembles today." Their CD recording with baroque music received high critical acclaim from the America Record Guide: "…Their playing is a delight-crisp, bright and expressive…"

2004-2005 will mark the fourth consecutive US Tour. They appeared in prestigious concert venues in cities such as New York, Berkeley, the Lied Center in Lawrence KS, Music Worcester near Boston, Los Alamos, Kalamazoo, with upcoming concerts at the Krannet Center, Spivey Hall in Atlanta, the Mondavi Center in Davis, and Washington DC.
