Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2008, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields is world renowned for its over 500 recordings and impressive international tours. The evening’s program both celebrates the Academy’s inception as a primarily baroque ensemble with two Bach solo violin concerti, and its long-standing commitment to English music with works by Britten and Walton. Quickly rising international star violinist Julia Fischer joins the Academy as soloist and leader.
