Katherine Myers
Producing Artistic Director, Colorado Light Opera/Stage Director, Oklahoma!

Katherine MyersKatherine received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Boulder and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from SUNY-Buffalo. Formerly the Director of Education and Outreach for Opera Colorado, Katherine created the Opera Colorado Outreach Ensemble and was directly responsible for the commission of the bi-lingual opera La Curandera in addition to serving as stage director for the world premiere. Additional directing credits include Die Fledermaus, The Magic Flute, Hansel and Gretel, Bastien and Bastienna, Man of La Mancha, The Island of Tulipatan, Gallantry, and Monkey See, Monkey Do. Roles include Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia), Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw), Tessa (The Gondoliers), and Lola (Gallantry).  Musical theater credits include Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady), Marian Paroo (The Music Man), Luisa (The Fantasticks), and Nanette (No, No, Nanette). 


Nick Sugar
Stage Director, Anything Goes

Nick SugarNick has been directing in the Denver for the last 12 years and is thrilled to be joining the wonderful artists at CLO. This past season Nick has directed several productions including Oleanna, Moby Dick the Musical, Frog and Toad, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Joseph. In 2007 Nick received the Denver Post Ovation Award for Outstanding Season by a Director, Best Comedy and Best Children's Production. He also received the Henry Award for Outstanding Direction for Dog Sees God. Nick has also been seen onstage in Cabaret, in which he received the Best of Westword Award and Ovation Award for Best Actor in a Musical, as well as, playing Frank N Furter in Rocky Horror and received the Henry Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Prior to his move to Denver Nick lived in Hong Kong, Los Angeles and New York. He serves on the board of directors at Town Hall Arts Center, as well as, The Colorado Theater Guild.


Jose Arturo Gonzalez
Music Director

Jose Arturo GonzalezArturo has been a faculty member of the University of Texas in El Paso, El Paso Community College, East Central College in Saint Louis, Missouri and the University of Chihuahua in Mexico. He served as the Music Director for the El Paso Association for the Performing Arts, Ballet/Theatre of the Border, East Central Summer Productions, and guest conductor of Midwest Lyric Opera. Arturo was recently a semi-finalist in the American Choral Director conducting competition, the only student in the history of the University of Colorado to achieve this recognition. He has conducted choirs in Mexico, Central America, the US, and Spain. Future engagements include guest conducting the Choir and Orchestra of the State of Queretaro in Mexico and the chamber orchestra of Mexico’s National Conservatory. His choral arrangements have been published by Choristers Guild and Asbury Press.

Bruce Bergner
Scenic Designer

Bruce BergnerAn award-winning designer, Bruce Bergner has designed over 100 shows. His work has been seen at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Opera Colorado, and the Curious Theatre Company in Denver. For the College of Music, his designs include Man of La Mancha, The Pirates of Penzance, Semele, and the premiere of Mark Medoff's Sara McKinnon.
