Pilobolus

Concert Program
March 6, 2007

**Please note that due to a dancer injury, this evening's program has changed. The revised program appears below**

AQUATICA (2005) – A girl on a beach. A conch. She listens. Where does she come from? Why is she there?  The waves roll in and suck her down into the deep. Is she dead or alive? Is this a dream or reality? Frightening, mysterious, and ultimately playful, the world of Aquatica is a breathtaking meditation set in the oceanic underworld. A fairy tale using images of exotic marine life to probe the depths of the human psyche.  Full of breathtaking leaps and  amazing forms set against an original score by Brazilian composer Marcelo Zarvos, Aquatica is at once a brand new work and classic Pilobolus - a full-company exploration of the sea around us and all the life that swims, scuttles, breathes, darts, huddles, glides, gobbles, flaps and evolves in the briny deep.

MEMENTO MORI (2006) is a sweet, hilarious but gentle reminder to us all that life is short. It shines a warm light into the depths of our youth-driven fantasies about growing older – and perhaps a bit wiser.  Music ranges from Debussy’s hauntingly undulating melodies to Bjork to Florence Foster Jenkins’ notorious butchering of the Queen of the Night aria.

SYMBIOSIS (2001)- A male-female duet which traces the birth of a relationship between two creatures sinuously & sensuously intertwined.  At once a Darwinian investigation and a love story, Symbiosis never ceases to surprise with its majesty and emotional depth.

MEGAWATT (2004) An electrifying experience. A full-throttle, full-company piece, blends startling energy with an ironic take on the excess and high-voltage state of the world we live in. Ultra-dynamic moves to the music of Primus, Radiohead and Squarepusher; a breathtaking display of the company's physical endurance and prowess.  It has been called  “...fascinating and rebellious, an important work of dance”  (Fort Worth Star Telegram).

All programs are subject to change.
